Working for the UK’s largest national mental health charity and years of experience leading crisis mental health teams taught me some of the keys to building and keeping a healthy mind! All of these skills are leveraged in helping your team grow, build and keep healthy minds while support others.

 

Standout communication breeds success, but so often the skills of great communication are lost in the busy, high pressured workplaces we find ourselves in today. Excellent communication with customers as well as excellent communication with colleagues will take your organisation to another level, reducing time wasting, ensuring clarity, avoiding misinterpretations and exceeding customer expectations!

 

Session 1: Communication

In this session of communication we will discuss the different types and styles of communication and will spend time unpacking the 5 essential communication skills.

We will look at healthy confrontation and positive ways to move through disagreements, challenge and difference of opinion.

We will discuss perception and the differing lens with which we all view circumstances and situations, and will spend time looking at the essential place of listening within communication and the art of listening to understand, instead of just listening to hear.

We will cover connection through communication which increases influence and inspiration and will learn the skills needed to build great connection which ensure our communications are heard and have an impact. There will be time to evaluate connection skills and look at areas for personal improvement.

Excellent communication allows us to strengthen relationships, increase a sense of community, build team collaboration and multiplies productivity.

Session 2: InfluencE

In the afternoon we will move onto Influencing and look at the key factors that influence influencing. We will cover effective influencing and will look at  6 scientifically proven methods of influence.

We will unpack building rapport, and the skills needed to improve rapport building and will end this session by understanding influencing styles and the components of influence

Session 3: Negotiation

The last session of the day will cover negotiation skills. Here we will look at the key skills of negotiation and how to position ourselves in win-win situations. We will discover how to overcome negotiation fears and the impact of emotions on negotiation. We will uncover what it looks like to become a successful negotiator and will unpack preparation, clarity and persuasion.

Participants will come away with the skills to develop engaging, impactful communication and negotiating and influencing skills that are applicable in every day situations.
